The Rapid Increase of CO2 Emissions
Understanding the Global Consequences

Clark Bisel, PE, LEEDS, AP

Introduction:  The issue of Global Warming is controversial as to whether it is a phenomenon of nature or caused by CO2 emissions.  The first presentation in this Video is by Clark Bisel, PE, LEEDS, AP, Senior Vice President of Flack+Kurtz in San Francisco, California.  Clark conducts an interesting discussion on sustainability and the increase of CO2 emissions from the use of Coal for power generation. The emerging Nations of China and India are expanding their power generation at a rate that exceeds all other Nations in the world.  Clark also discusses the impact these emerging countries will have on the world economies in the 21st Century. The result of these changes are driving the need for "Green Designed" projects, as the question of sustainability of the accelerated use of Coal for power production comes into focus.  While Green Design is the "hot topic" within the design community, with this comes an entirely new set of legal and liability concerns.

The preceding presentation by Clark Bisel was on the sustainability of continued and accelerated use of fossil fuels for the generation of electricity. It suggests using alternative fuel sources and green designed projects to mitigate the impact of CO2 emissions and resulting global warming. The cause of global warming is a controversial topic and a/e ProNet recognizes there are opposing views to our speakers' presentations. While we can't list all of these opinions, our viewers may wish to review the positions presented in the U.S. Senate report on global warming at http://epw.senate.gov/public/index.cfm?FuseAction=Minority.Blogs&ContentRecord_id=f80a6386-802a-23ad-40c8-3c63dc2d02cb.
