At a/e ProNet, one of the most rewarding parts of our scholarship program is staying connected with our recipients and watching their education, talent, and hard work begin to shape their professional careers.

We are especially proud to share an update from Anna Turco, a 2025–2026 David W. Lakamp Architect Scholarship recipient.

From Clemson to the Profession

Anna graduated from Clemson University in May with her Master of Architecture and a certificate in Architecture and Community Build. Her certificate studies included design-build studios completed in Charleston, giving her the opportunity to connect architectural design with the realities of creating and building for communities.

For her final comprehensive studio at Clemson, Anna partnered with fellow student Lauren Reaume to design the Upcountry Visitor’s Center in Greenville, South Carolina.

The project was conceived as part of a larger master plan for the redevelopment of Greenville’s Arena District surrounding the Bon Secours Wellness Arena. The visitor center was designed as a gathering place where residents and visitors could learn more about Greenville and the Upcountry region while connecting the area’s historic character with its continued growth.

Anna describes the final semester as challenging but extremely rewarding and says she is especially proud of what she and Lauren were able to accomplish together in a single semester.

After graduation and a well-earned month off, Anna returned home to Wisconsin and began the next stage of her journey as a designer with Workshop Architects in Milwaukee.

The firm specializes in higher education and student-life environments, including student unions, recreation and wellness centers, housing, dining facilities, and classroom buildings.

It is an area of architecture that Anna says already feels like a great fit.

She is currently working on a new student union and library facility for the University of Minnesota St. Paul campus. The project is also giving her an opportunity to build upon her academic experience: the facility is using dowel-laminated timber, a structural product Anna also worked with during her comprehensive studio project at Clemson.

The Next Milestone: Architectural Licensure

Anna isn’t slowing down.

This fall, she plans to begin studying for the Architect Registration Examination (ARE) as she continues pursuing architectural licensure.

From graduate school and design-build studios to her first professional projects and the path toward licensure, it is exciting to see Anna take these next steps.

We are proud to have played a part in supporting her architectural education through the David W. Lakamp Architect Scholarship, and we look forward to continuing to follow her career.
